Freelance marketing and communications specialist. Deliberate mom pursuing the good life.
I am Utoia Gabby Wooten.
I have enjoyed prioritizing my family over the past ten years, and I am gearing up to re-enter the workforce full-time.
Before starting a family, I established a track record of producing targeted marketing and communications deliverables, from my role as Regional Community Outreach Manager at a global nonprofit resource development organization to my writing and creative positions at The Department of Homeland Security and Employment Learning Innovation, a compliance training company.
Throughout my career, I have primarily written for audiences of small businesses and nonprofit organizations. I have felt most energized when writing website content, blog posts, and grant proposals; developing newsletters and e-campaigns; and designing annual reports and PowerPoint presentations.
I started a freelance limited liability company (Utoia Gabby Wooten doing business as Write Mix Media), and I have the privilege of helping my clients address their marketing and communications goals. I get to wear many hats as a freelancer: grant writer, copy editor, creative manager, and resource development consultant, to name a few.
I have observed a need for instruction on storytelling and aligning social issues and public policy. I aspire to find a fulfilling career where I can serve as a resource in this space.
I am originally from Tallahassee, Florida, and I am a proud third-generation graduate of Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University (FAMU). I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Public Management, and I’m currently working on a Master of Arts degree in Professional Writing with a concentration in Applied Writing and Composition and Rhetoric.
In my free time, I like to read, take long walks, watch annoying, I mean fun, YouTube videos with my daughter, and spend time in the kitchen remixing recipes with my husband.
